CONCEPT

The Coffee Concept project was an all-inclusive brief which required the development of a brand identity and the spatial realization of this identity within an existing corporate office development.

The branding and spatial design needed to provide the employees of the office building with an alternative coffee, 'quick something to eat,' gathering and break-away offering.

The brand development informed the colour and material palette selected and suggested in the render shown below. It was important that the space served both the transient and unhurried user, the team and the individual, providing seating, standing and movement spaces applicable to all.

Varied seating options, chair, stool and bench, were paired with differing table heights and styles to establish a sense of playfulness. High meeting tables were placed toward the back of the shop to provide a more private gathering space, whilst informal coffee benches were located in the outdoor atrium space, encouraging the individual to rest from work and have a mindful moment and cup of coffee.

The spatial arrangement of a small shop area was a welcomed challenge, ensuring that the design considered the restricted opportunity to place the 'workings' of a kitchen and coffee station out of sight. The result was an open kitchen that was central to the ambiance of the space, where all processes and preparation are shared with the customer.
